DITHERTONE Pro Plugin: FAQ & Common Errors

FAQ - Is DITHERTONE Pro a one-time payment? Do I get all future updates free? - Yes. Your purchase is a one-time payment that includes lifetime access to the plugin and all future updates. Once you own DITHERTONE Pro, every new feature and version upgrade will automatically be available to you. No subscriptions, no extra fees. - What version of PS do I need for the plugin to work? - DITHERTONE Pro requires Adobe Photoshop 2023 or newer, running on macOS or Windows. - It’s built with the latest UXP framework, so older “.jsx” or “CEP” plugin environments aren’t supported (this also means it is not compatible with Affinity). - How can I access updates for the DITHERTONE Pro Plugin? - When an update is released, it’ll automatically update to your user portal - so you can simply re-download the latest version from there. - You will also be notified of the update via email. - Can I activate my license across multiple devices? - Each purchase includes one activation per 3 devices tied to that license. So you may use the plugin on 3 separate devices at a time maximum. However, you can deactivate a device anytime and reactivate on another (via your user portal). - Can I use the plugin on a cracked version of PS? - I wouldn’t recommend it. DITHERTONE Pro runs best on genuine, up-to-date Adobe Photoshop installations. - Cracked or modified versions of Photoshop may firewall / wi-fi block outbound communications from the Photoshop app, meaning you won’t be able to activate the plugin. - Cracked versions of Photoshop may also mess with the UXP framework, break licensing, or cause performance issues and are not supported. - There are instances where the plugin works fine on cracked versions of Photoshop, but DITHERTONE is not built to support it. - What are the required specs to run the plugin? - DITHERTONE Pro runs efficiently on most modern systems. For best results: - OS: macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later / Windows 10 (64-bit) or later - RAM: 8 GB minimum (16 GB recommended) - Processor: Intel i5 / Apple Silicon / Ryzen 5 or better - Photoshop: v24.0+ (UXP support required) - Storage: ~500 MB free space - Where can I find tutorials? - You can check out the official video demo page here. - which contains 5+ quick guides for certain plugin features, as well as full-length guides, and short-form content. - How do I get more detail in my dithers? - Increase the Input DPI slider to make dots smaller and tighter. - Use the sharpen function - Try setting the sharpen radius anywhere from 5-20, and cranking the strength up a good amount. - You can also lower or higher the contrast slider via bringing the handles on the Levels slider in closer to each other. Common Bugs & Errors - Experiencing bugs? Try these general fixes: - Update your Photoshop to the latest version. - Ensure you’re using a paid copy of Photoshop in the English Language (How to: Set Language to English) - Click the gear icon / button in the plugin panel, then click ‘Reset Settings’ - Ensure your document is 8-bit RGB by going to “Image > Mode” and making sure “RGB Color” and “8 Bits/Channel” is selected. - Go to “Edit > Convert to Profile…” and set the Destination Space to “sRGB IEC61966-2.1” & hit OK. - Go to “Edit > Color Settings” and in the Working Spaces section, change the “RGB” dropdown to “sRGB IEC61966-2.1” - Be sure to use a standard canvas - do not use artboards. - To remove an artboard, select the artboard in the Layers panel, right-click and choose “Ungroup Artboards” to convert to a standard canvas. - If your target layer is a smart object, right-click and rasterize the layer. - Select your top-most visible layer, and do the keyboard shortcut Cmd+Shift+Opt+E (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E (Win). - This will make a merged copy. Run the plugin on that new merged layer. - Receiving Errors such as “The Command ‘Align’ or ‘Delete’ is not currently available”? - This is likely due to color settings or hidden layer data. To fix these errors, do the following: - Go to “Edit > Color Settings” - Under Working Spaces > RGB, change the “RGB” dropdown to “sRGB IEC61966-2.1” - Under Color Management Policies, set RGB to ‘Preserve Embedded Profiles’ - Go to “Edit > Convert to Profile…” and set the Destination Space to “sRGB IEC61966-2.1” & hit OK. - Ensure your document is 8-bit by going to “Image > Mode” and making sure “8 Bits/Channel” is selected. - Run the plugin again. - Give those remedies a go, and if problems persist, do the following as well: - Select your top-most visible layer, and do the keyboard shortcut Cmd+Shift+Opt+E (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E (Win). - This will make a merged copy. Run the plugin on that new merged layer. - Be sure to use a standard canvas - do not use artboards. - To remove an artboard, select the artboard in the Layers panel, right-click and choose “Ungroup Artboards” to convert to a standard canvas. - Plugin sliders not working in real-time or stacking the effects? - This may be happening if your Photoshop is not set to the English language. - DITHERTONE Pro currently only supports Photoshop in the English language. - To quickly change the language to English, refer to this video: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wf3RZz_AcY - Plugin requiring license activation / log-in very frequently? - The plugin should only ask you to verify your license once. If it is continually asking you to re-verify, this is likely due to a system issue like a firewall blockage or wifi blockage. - If you are using or ever installed a cracked version of any Adobe program, it may have left some sort of firewall blockage that is disallowing outbound communication from Adobe apps, and therefore causing the plugin to continually deactivate. Please locate and disable this firewall block. - Be sure you have a wi-fi / internet connection, as the plugin will check to verify the license every few days. If you are not connected to the internet, it may log out.
